'Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I am just a girl who wishes for the world' Get the Marilyn Monroe look with celebrity make-up artist Lisa Eldridge's tutorial

From the ruby red lips to the famous beauty mark, as we mark the 50th anniversary of her death, the legend of Marilyn Monroe lives on, more vibrantly than ever and her glamorous 1950s pin-up look is what everyone wants to channel.
From the full red lips to the signature beauty mark, Marilyn Monroe's look has become iconic over the years
From the full red lips to the signature beauty mark, Marilyn Monroe's look has become iconic over the years
According to celebrity makeup artist Lisa Elridge, who has worked with the likes of Kate Moss and Cameron Diaz, this year will be a celebration of the iconic 50s beauty.
And she shows FEMAIL just how to achieve the look.
Lisa’s film, depicting how to get the look was released one week ago and has already become a runaway hit on You Tube with views soaring.
Shot in a documentary style, it covers the relationship between Marilyn and her Make-up Artist (and good friend) Allan ‘Whitey’ Snyder.
From her first screen test in 1945 up until her death in 1962, Whitey was there by her side for all her big movies and photographic shoots - helping to create her iconic look.

Although Marilyn had many looks throughout her career, for example her off-set look was very natural, Lisa has created an illustrative version of the full-on look she wore for her most glamorous poster shoots and film roles from around 1953 until the end of the 50’s.

Make-up artists from that era often talk about the challenges they faced.
Issues like Technicolor Film, Cinemascope lenses and the extremely bright, hot lights that were needed back then played havoc with the make-up, changing colours and flattening faces. Often weeks of make-up tests were needed before a big movie to get the look right.
The signature look was recreated on Michelle Williams for the 2011 film My Week with Marilyn

All a million miles away from today’s era of hyper-real Digital and High Definition.
Lisa said: 'Although its very difficult to get all the exact details as her make-up artist never betrayed her secrets, it's fun to talk about the different tricks and details of Marilyn's look.
'In this video Marilyn had lots of different looks and was pretty natural off camera but this video concentrates on the very glamorous look she had for her movies and poster shoots from 1953 through to the end of the 50's. Lots of the tricks were geared towards the lighting, film and cameras of the time... Hope you enjoy it!'

A cut above: Photographer crosses America to record the weird and woolly winners of dog grooming pageants

For most dog owners, grooming involves occasionally trimming their beloved pets hair and maybe attaching a fancy collar.
But as these incredible pictures show, for some it is a much more serious business.
From hit children’s TV show The Muppets to a panda, these dogs have been groomed to the limits of creativity.

This jaw-dropping set of images show how with a dose of artistic flare our most familiar friend can be transformed into a dinosaur or even Eor the donkey from children’s book Winnie the Pooh.
Other pictures show dragons, owls and racoon designs which look like they are hanging off the bodies of the dogs – some of which have their coats carefully pampered, shaped and died over a period of six months to produce their radical look.

Photographer Ren Netherland, 51, from Clearwater, Florida, travelled more than 19,000 miles across the U.S. in a mobile studio to visit conventions which showcased the bizarre craze for cutting and dying dogs into incredibly different forms – an art called ‘creative grooming’.
'I'm hired by the grooming competition across the United States to photograph the winners of the shows,' said Mr Netherland.
'At the very beginning of the show you will see a dog with what looks like a mix of colour.
'By the end when the groomers have finished their work you will see something crazy.

'This could be a bird, raccoon, owl, dinosaur or a face of a frog or pig sculpted into the fur.
      'The groomers choose the designs.'
Mr Netherland explained how the groomers are able to turn domestic dogs into these uniquely designed pooches.
'The groomers have roughly two hours to cut the dogs hair into the designs and add colour,' he said.

Taking a leaf out of Fifty Shades? Penélope Cruz's sister Mónica channels hit novel in sexy new Agent Provocateur lingerie ad

As the sister of Hollywood A-lister Penélope, Mónica Cruz was always going to be a beauty.
Now a new campaign, for luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, has revealed just how alike the two siblings are.
Mónica, 35, who is a celebrity herself in her native Spain, appears to be channelling hit 'mommy porn' bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey in the sexy series of images.
      Scroll down for video

Flying solo: Mónica Cruz, the younger sister of Hollywood A-lister Penélope, is the star of a sexy new Agent Provocateur campaign that bears similarities to the plotline of hit trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey
True to form, the label pushes boundaries of acceptability by setting the shoot in a former London prison, in a dark, windowless room with a chain hanging from the ceiling.

But despite the similarities to Fifty Shades, the campaign actually has a very different concept. Titled Wilhelmina: Show Your True Self, Mónica plays a Victorian woman whose true spirit is unmasked by a magic camera.

Daring: True to form, the lingerie label pushes boundaries of acceptability by setting the shoot in a former London prison, in a dark, windowless room with a chain hanging from the ceiling
However suggestive the resulting photos, the actress and dancer looks sensational in the fall/winter collection.
One set, the Novah, in deep fuchsia-red satin with a black lace overlay, features a balconette bra and high-waisted briefs giving it a retro, Fifties-inspired feel.
Another design, the Whitney, is rather more daring: a complex arrangement of black straps that only the most toned of bodies could pull off.

Risqué: Among the looks Mónica models is the Whitney design, a complex arrangement of black straps that only the most toned of bodies could pull off

In shape: Mónica, like her sister, began her career as a flamenco dancer and clearly still works out
Of course this is clearly no issue for Mónica, who, like her sister, 38, began her career as a flamenco dancer and evidently still works hard to keep in shape.
Agent Provocateur creative director, Sarah Shotton, told WWD: 'She’s a professional dancer, a very sexy women. I’ve never seen a woman move like that...
'Mónica is a beautiful embodiment of the Agent Provocateur brand, knowingly sexy and empowered by her own sensuality.'

This is not the first time Mónica has fronted a fashion campaign. In 2007, she and Penelope joined forces to create a collection for Spanish chain Mango.
Producers of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides also took advantage of the sisters' likeness, using Mónica as a double for her sister who was pregnant during the film shoot in 2010.

The other sultry snap for the photo shoot for Glamour Magazine sees the Martha Marcy May Marlene star lounging on a stool while donning a shimmering gold jacket over a crisp white shirt.
She also sports black leggings and matching ankle boots.
Elizabeth opened up to the magazine about forging an acting career in her Olsen twin sisters’ shadow – which she has now firmly stepped out of.

But she admitted that she does look up to the fashion designers and reckons she ought to take their advice more often.
She explained: ‘They figured it all out, and I should just listen to them more.’
Despite working on several hot new movies and having a string of red carpet appearances under her belt, Elizabeth claims she hasn’t adjusted to fame just yet.
She told the magazine: ‘Yesterday three people told me that I look like Elizabeth Olsen. That's never happened before. So awkward.’
Elizabeth is currently filming Very Good Girls alongside Dakota Fanning but she is also preparing for the general release of her new movie Liberal Arts.
The film is written, directed and starred in by How I Met Your Mother’s Josh Radnor, and tells the story of a 35-year-old who falls for a 19-year-old student when he returns to his alma mater to give a speech.
The movie, which also stars Zac Efron, will hit cinemas on September 14 after it received critical acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in January.

She told Glamour: ‘I love school, but I got cast in Martha while I was at New York University. So I was like, screw it. I'll take this semester off. I'm still trying to figure out how I can finish my degree while doing all this!’

She is the granddaughter of Estee Lauder so it comes as no surprise that Aerin Lauder exudes supreme sophistication.

The beauty queen, who launched the first products from her new lifestyle brand last month, is dressed in a flowing brown and blue Rochas print dress that extends past her feet and onto the brown sand.

Wearing the red kaftan-style Hermes dress, her feet are bare as she poses alongside a decorated wall, the floor covered in iconic printed carpets typically seen in the magical African city.
She told the magazine: 'I've always liked simple. Growing up I wore corduroys and Lacoste shirts, Maraolo flats, and maybe one gold bracelet. My grandmother [Estee] gave me a credit card to Ann Taylor when I was 15, and I went and got cream-colored turtlenecks.'

She naturally spoke about Aerin, her brand as well and touched on what motivated her to begin the line which includes make-up as well as forthcoming home wares and fashion accessories.
'I've been in this business for so many years, and the question of what's inside your makeup bag always came up,' she said. 'It became what's in your closet, what's on your desk, your dressing table.'
The New York-based mother-of-two, who is married to broker Eric Zinterhofer, aims to help women feel 'confident and pretty' through her line of products.

Her 68-year-old father, Ronald Lauder, who also features in the editorial spread and is claimed by Forbes to be worth $3.4billion, said he is proud of Aerin's entrepreneurial skills.
'Estee would have been twice as proud,' he added. 'She was almost the same age as Aerin when she started and I know that with Aerin's knowledge in cosmetics and her fabulous sense of style and taste, her new line will be just as successful as her grandmother's line was when she started almost 60 years ago.'
Aerin, who has been tipped to be the next Tory Burch, allegedly had the help of U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour and former NBCUniversal boss Jeff Zucker in creating the line.
She remains a style and image director at Estee Lauder but once served as the brand's creative director.
She told U.S. Vogue magazine that she had been thinking about going out on her own for a long time.
'I'd discussed it with my parents,' she said. 'I saw an opportunity in the market.'
It is believed that the brand will also comprise of a jewellery line which insiders claim will be based on her legendary grandmother's collection.
She told WWD last year that the price point of the brand could be described as an 'easy luxury' level.
She said that her target market was 'a luxury customer who wants things made simple adding that her range would not offer fashion 'in the sense of clothing'.
'It's about making it easy for the consumer and knowing what she is looking for,' she added.
Gold-dipped shell as well as cream lacquer combs and hairbrushes are also due to be released in November.
